The Pantomime Awards 2023 nominees are announced... And we are up for four awards!

The UK Pantomime Association has announced the nominations for The Pantomime Awards 2023, with Evolution Productions production of Dick Whittington being nominated for four awards!

Taking place at Trafalgar Theatre in London’s West End on Tuesday 11 April, The Pantomime Awards are hosted by Christopher Biggins, with judges attending over 240 venues to see over 700 performances across the UK.

Dick Whittington at The Octagon Theatre has been nominated for:

  • Best Pantomime (500 – 900 seats)
  • Best Contribution to Music – Emma Fraser
  • Best Choreography – Josie Lee
  • Best Lighting Design – Kathryn Monkton

A full list of nominees for all the categories can be seen on The UK Pantomime Association website.

Adam Burgan, Arts & Entertainment Venues Manager, said: “We are incredibly proud of the pantomime at The Octagon; for me and many others it is the highlight of the year. The feedback on Dick Whittington was exceptional and to have that recognised on a national stage means a great deal and it is wonderful to be putting Yeovil and Somerset on the theatre map. We are especially proud of the nomination for Kathryn Monkton for her Lighting Design. This is the second year in a row that Kathryn has been nominated and it is fantastic to see her creative talent recognised.”

Good luck to all the nominees, but especially to Evolution Productions and The Octagon Theatre!

Founded in 2021, the UK Pantomime Association is a charity that explores, shares and celebrates pantomime by investigating the genre’s rich past, engaging with contemporary practice and inspiring the future. The Special Awards, which celebrate productions representing the values that the Association seeks to promote, as well as the Outstanding Achievement Awards, are to be announced at the ceremony on 11 April.

2023 brings the regular Octagon Theatre festive pantomime by Evolution Productions to Westlands Entertainment Venue for the first time whilst The Octagon is closed for redevelopment. This year, don’t miss the hilarious, fun-filled, family pantomime Cinderella with thousands of tickets already sold.
