Yeovil Literary Festival 2024 ended on a high note recently, bringing together book lovers, authors, and creatives for an unforgettable celebration. Over 40 events with writers, experts, and speakers gathered to entertain and inspire generations of readers.

The Westlands Entertainment Venue, Yeovil Waterstones, Yeovil Library, and St John's the Baptist Church saw audiences flock to see big names like Kaleb Cooper, Andrew Child, and Martin Clunes, alongside support for emerging, local talent. From talks to poetry, book signings, and meet-and-greets, each event contributed to an incredible atmosphere.

The festival began with a love of a good book, and just over a decade later, Yeovil Literary Festival has flourished into a cultural highlight for the town that we’re incredibly proud of. This year’s line-up featured appearances from bestselling authors, award-winning novelists, and fantastic up-and-coming voices. The buzz of excitement each day created a fantastic environment as people from across the county came to see their favourite authors. Our goal was simple: to spread the love of literature far and wide, inspire future generations of readers, writers, and creative minds, and to host a joyous celebration – a goal well and truly achieved! The festival was a resounding success, with thousands of book lovers discussing topics from intriguing fictional mysteries to fascinating accounts of journeys into the heart of peace and war.

“Absolutely brilliant, she was just absolutely brilliant,” one reader declared after hearing from novelist Lesley Pearse. Another attendee spoke of David Walliams, saying, “He was hilarious! He had everyone laughing, kids and adults; you just couldn’t help but laugh. His books have gone through all my children – the oldest is now 20, so I had to bring him (my youngest son) to come and see him.”

Although Yeovil Literary Festival has wrapped up its main events for the year, you are invited to one final post-show event as Luke Evans shares his latest book, The Boy from the Valleys, on Saturday, 16th November. We’re also well on our way to planning next year’s event, so literary lovers are encouraged to stay connected through the festival’s website and social media!
