Norman Scott - An Accidental Icon

Norman Scott is best known for his involvement in one of the greatest political scandals of the 20th Century. In October 1975, following an affair with politician Jeremy Thorpe, an assassin tried to murder Scott on Exmoor but the gun jammed and he only succeeded in shooting Scott’s beloved Great Dane, Rinka.

Scott soon found himself at the centre of a major scandal and criminal trial. But this was never his intention... An Accidental Icon will reveal Scott’s courage in taking on the establishment, who attempted to cover up his relationship with Thorpe and silence him. It will also reveal his dysfunctional and abusive upbringing, how he found solace in friendship with animals and some of the jaw-dropping-characters and moments that he has encountered along the way of a quite remarkable life.
