We are excited to present a masterclass in Indian Dance for dancers of all abilities. This masterclass offers dancers a rare opportunity to learn a specially choreographed piece under the expertise of the talented dance masterclass leaders of Srishti - Nina Rajarani Dance Creations.

The experience will culminate in a curtain-raiser performance as part of the Ekata show on 12th May 2025 at Westlands Entertainment Venue. Beyond learning a new choreographic work, participants will gain invaluable insights into the creative process of working with professional artists while enhancing their understanding of performance preparation, including stage presence, rhythm, and audience engagement.

Participants will learn a dance piece using the vocabulary of Bharatanatyam (a classical dance style from south India) that will incorporate both nritta (abstract dance movements) and abhinaya (expressional dance / mime). The piece that will be taught is on the Hindu god Ganesha, who is invoked at the start of any important event, as he is the remover of all obstacles, thereby creating an auspicious environment.

This piece will be performed, with live music, as a curtain raiser to the performance of EkatA by Nina Rajarani MBE.

Workshop: Sunday 11 May 2025, 10am – 1pm
Performance: Monday 12 May 2025, 7.30pm (dancers will be called from 5pm to prepare and rehearse on stage)
Age Group: 18+ years
